| About ‘An Evening Of Romance’ |
| Claire and Antoinette have created a
magical programme that captivates audiences wherever
it is performed. The varied and romantic nature of
the music brilliantly illustrates their unique talents.
From the raw passion of George Gershwin’s ‘Porgy
and Bess’ to the light hearted and carefree charm
of Tchaikovsky’s suite of 6 dances from ‘The
Nutcracker Suite’. Making it a performance to
suit all ages. |
 |
| The programme also includes the brilliant ‘ Variations
on the St. Antoni Chorale’ by Brahms, Borodin’s
Polovtsian Dances and ‘Concertino for 2 Pianos’ by
Shostakovich. |
 |
| The programme which is interspersed
with short introductions by the twins, is given in
two parts with an interval. Each part lasts approximately
40 minutes. |
 |
| Staging The Performance |
| The performance is simple to stage and
we take the responsibility of arranging for the hire
of the pianos. We require some basic lighting and a
sound system (with a stand mic) for the introductions.
We provide a full publicity package of A3 posters and
A5 fliers suitable for overprinting. |

| Some Recent Reviews |
| The internationally-renowned and award-winning
English twins Claire and Antoinette Cann gave a spellbinding
recital playing on identical grand pianos during which
they played a wide variety of music ranging from Schubert
and Rachmaninov to Gershwin and Lutoslawski….. |
 |
| …..The twins seemed perfectly
attuned to one another and were a model of technical
unity. Breathtaking brilliance, fluency and precision
coupled with uncanny telepathic co-ordination confirmed
this recital to be world class. This was a piano recital
of a most special kind. |
| May 2004 The Gulf Times |
 |
| “….effortless virtuosity…..magically
refined tone…..the Cann twins played together
with fascinating perfection in the Frankfurter Hof.” |
| Deutsche Allgemeine Zeitung |
 |
| “They caught the shimmering tone
colours of Ravel’s Introduction and Allegro to
perfection. No less impressive was Faure’s Dolly
Suite” |

It is difficult to imagine a more scintillating
piano duet record than this. Saint-Saens’ skeletons
- summoned by an evocative bell - dance as vigorously
as do MacDowell’s witches in the brilliant Hexentanz,
while Debussy’s delightful Petite Suite is full
of charm.....Most remarkable of all are the excerpts
from the Nutcracker Suite conceived entirely pianistically
and glittering with colour.
Indeed the Sugar Plum Fairy has a much stronger profile
than usual and the Chinese Dance an
irresistible glitter. The Brahms waltzes bring beguiling
variety of mood and texture and display an easy bravura,
ending with a lovely performance
of the Cradle Song (No 15 in A flat) while the dazzling
Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody ends the recital with great
exuberance and much digital panache. The recording,
made in Rosslyn Hill Chapel, is exceptionally real
and vivid and is ideally balanced. |
